The goal of this method is to break the ice and build initial connections among participants by sharing and celebrating unique personal skills or hobbies. This activity encourages self-expression and mutual appreciation, creating a supportive and fun atmosphere.
“Hidden Talent” invites participants to briefly demonstrate or discuss a hidden talent, hobby, or interest that others might not know about. This can range from singing, drawing, or storytelling to less common skills like juggling or magic tricks.
Inform participants in advance about the Hidden Talent Showcase, allowing them time to prepare a short demonstration of their talent that they can comfortably share with the group.
At the start of the session, create a relaxed and encouraging environment to make everyone feel comfortable about performing or sharing.
Arrange a performance area where participants will have space and any necessary support (like a table, chair, or power outlet) for their showcase.
Each participant takes a turn to demonstrate their talent. Encourage the group to show support and appreciation after each presentation.
After everyone has had a chance to share, facilitate a group discussion where participants can talk about their talents and the experiences or stories behind them.
• Keep each showcase brief to maintain a dynamic pace and hold everyone’s attention.
• Encourage clapping and positive feedback to create a warm and supportive atmosphere.
• If some participants are shy or reluctant, offer them the option to present something less performance-oriented, such as a drawing or a craft they have made.
