The goal of "Princesses and Castles" is to promote quick thinking, agility, and cooperation through a playful game that involves everyone moving and switching roles.
"Princesses and Castles" is an energetic and interactive game where participants create 'castles' around 'princesses'. The activity involves quick changes and movements, requiring participants to pay attention and react swiftly to stay in the game. It's perfect for mixing up groups and getting everyone moving.
Have participants form groups of three. In each group, two people hold hands to form a 'castle', and one person stands inside the castle as the 'princess'.
One person is left without a group and stands in the center of the play area. This person is the caller.
The game begins with the caller shouting commands:
• Princesses: All princesses must leave their castles and find a new castle to stand in. Meanwhile, the caller tries to enter a castle as a princess. Whoever is left without a castle becomes the new caller.
• Castles: Upon hearing this, the people forming the castles must let go and quickly pair up with new partners to form new castles.
• Earthquake: When this is shouted, everyone must disband and form new groups of three, including new princesses and new castles.
The game continues with the new caller repeating the cycle of commands. The game is fast-paced, and commands should be called out frequently to keep the activity lively.
• Encourage quick movement to keep the energy high and give everyone a chance to play different roles.
• Ensure there is enough space for participants to move safely to avoid collisions.
• Facilitators should remind players to be gentle when forming and dissolving castles to prevent any accidental pulling or tugging.
